We’ve all been there. We get ready, do our hair, get our makeup just right, pick out the perfect outfit, and then…the look flops in the pictures afterward. Suddenly, our confidence plummets. We look at the photos and feel disappointed in what we see. The problem is that sometimes what looks good in the bathroom mirror just doesn’t photograph well.

So, if you want to look good, no matter what—try these ten simple beauty hacks to be photo-ready in minutes.

Test How Your Makeup Will Look In Different Lighting

Use a flashlight, or your phone, to light yourself from above, below, the side, etc. Also, go somewhere where you can see yourself in natural light. This will give you a good idea of how you will actually look in the pictures. Indoor lighting in your bathroom can have a very different effect than natural light outdoors.

Smoky Eyes

Smoky eyes will help to draw attention to your eyes and is as simple as 1-2-3.

  1. Use a kohl line to line your eyes.
  2. Smudge using your fingertips.
  3. Use a cotton swab with eye makeup remover or lotion on it to clean up any residue and give your eyes an extra sheen.

Matte is must

Use a pressed or loose powder to give your face a soft, porcelain appearance and keep it on hand to ensure your makeup looks great during your entire outing. No shiny nose!

Blend, blend, blend

So many people are enjoying the contour kits that give us the look of a supermodel with not nearly as much work. But, some ladies are mistaken in how they apply the different colors and layers. Be sure that it is blended, blended, blended!

Make it Last

Before you put on makeup, prepare your face with a primer and moisturizer. Then, spritz your face with a product specifically designed to finish your look, or powder your face just enough.

Eyelashes are key

Eyes, in general, are the focal point in any photo. Eyelashes can make or break a look. You want your lashes to look long, dark and thick but NOT clumpy or overdone. Curl your lashes before applying mascara so they will lift up and away from your eye then apply a clean coat of mascara to help your eyes stand out.

Festive Headband

Headbands are easy and fun. They require very little prep and add a bit of spunk and personality to any look. If you want a great photo-ready hairdo but don’t have the time for an elaborate up-do, use a headband to add some pizazz.

Bigger is Better

Sometimes, bigger really is better. When it comes to your hair in photos, you want it to look voluminous and healthy. Make it even bigger than you might normally, so that when it falls a bit, you’ll still look fab on camera.

Try the Top Knot

Just like a headband, a sweet little top knot is one of the easiest ways to create a chic hair look with very little work. It calls attention to your face and makes you look put together, but not pretentious.

Take Care of You

If you want to look great in photos, don’t spend the night prior boozing it up and staying out late. Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water and be sure to moisturize.

Being photo-ready is not as hard as you might think. Just a few simple beauty hacks and you can look red carpet ready.
