15 Ways To Use Coconut Oil For Beauty

Everybody’s favorite natural beauty ingredient is a favorite for a reason. Coconut oil can practically do it all, from moisturizing to cleansing to cleaning your dang teeth. Below is your complete guide to the tricks and wonders of using coconut oil for beauty.

Oil pull: If you want a natural way to whiten teeth and prevent gum disease, try oil pulling. Simply gargle with a tablespoon of coconut oil for 20 minutes. You can also make oil chews by melting the oil, adding 20 drops of your favorite essential oil and then hardening the mixture in a mold via the fridge.

Lotion: Coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer. Simply rub it into your skin. Done. Though those prone to acne will want to avoid this method.

Hangnail remedy: Apply this oil to your cuticles, and make sure to rub it in well. Moisturized cuticle beds are the fix for hangnails.

Exfoliating scrub: Simply add liquid coconut oil to granulated sugar until you form a paste. Rub on the skin for a few minutes to exfoliate and moisturize, and then rinse it off.

Toothpaste: Combine equal parts coconut oil and baking soda, then scrub those pearly whites. Add 10 optional drops of peppermint oil if you want to improve the taste.

Eye cream: Just add some coconut oil under the eyes to minimize lines and bags. The natural moisture will plump up the area.

Removing makeup: Rub makeup with the oil and watch makeup wash away. Plus, you’ll be adding moisture.

Clean a makeup brush: Just as coconut oil is great for removing makeup from your face, it’s also great for getting your makeup brushes nice and clean. Just heat some coconut oil until it’s liquid, swirl the makeup brush around in the liquid, pat with a towel and let the brush fully air dry.

Hair conditioner: Heat coconut oil so it is warm, but not too hot to touch. Rub the oil into your scalp, and run it down the length of your hair. Leave on for about five to 30 minutes, and then shampoo like normal or simply rinse. You just made a natural deep conditioner.

Bug bite remedy: Coconut oil naturally soothes itches and abrasions. After the area is cleansed and disinfected (if there is open skin) add coconut oil with clean hands to reduce redness, pain and itching.

Massage oil: Coconut oil is perfect for massages. Its tropical scent will transport you right to the beach. Simply warm the oil, and use it as part of a massage. Add essential oils to preference.

Lip balm: Just add right to the lips. It will prevent lip cracking and plump up that kisser.

Shaving cream: Here’s one of the unsung ways to use coconut oil for beauty. Use it by itself just like shaving cream.

Facial cleansing: Rub the oil all over your face right before you do your normal cleanse. That will help moisturize, while nourishing the skin. Plus, the oil is reputed to be antibacterial and anti-fungal.

Frizz fighter: Have frizzy hair today? Just add a small dollop of coconut oil to your hands, rub it between your palms and smooth the length of your hair with the oil, leaving the few inches by your scalp alone. You’ll have manageable hair without the top being weighed down or greasy.
