2-Ingredient DIY Beauty Products

Not only are beauty products expensive, but many contain harsh, harmful chemicals that will do damage to your skin over time. There has to be a better way, right? Well, that’s where these DIY beauty products come in! You can make them yourself, which saves you money, time and unwanted damage. The best part? All these DIY beauty products take only two ingredients. It couldn’t be any simpler!

Here are our favorite 2-ingredient DIY beauty products.

Cucumber & Turmeric Face Mask

Cucumber tones your skin, fades blemishes and gives you a glowing complexion. Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which will help clear breakouts.

  • ½ of a cucumber
  • ½ tsp of turmeric powder

Peel and blend the cucumber in a food processor or blender. Add the turmeric powder and stir well. Apply to face and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Wash off with cool water.

Coconut Oil Body Butter

Coconut oil smoothes and heals skin. Receive additional benefits from the butter by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Use frankincense to heal acne, geranium to reduce wrinkles, myrrh aides sun-damaged skin and reduces eczema, or try rose to moisturize dry skin.

  • 2 cups of coconut oil
  • Few drops of essential oil of choice

Combine ingredients in a mixer. Whip until light and fluffy. Store in closed container or jar.

Avocado & Honey Moisturizing Hair Mask

The avocado will promote hair growth and reduce hair loss, while the honey treats dry and damaged hair, making it soft and luxurious again.

  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • A medium sized avocado

Mash the avocado until smooth. Add the honey and stir until well-combined. Apply to dry or slightly damp hair, and leave on for 15-20 minutes (you can cover it with a shower cap while you wait, if you wish). Rinse well and follow with your normal hair routine.

Dry Shampoo

If you suffer from greasy hair, especially on a no-wash day, here’s how to combat the grease in a healthy way. Cocoa powder provides shine and volume to your hair, and cornstarch absorbs the excess oil.

  • ½ cup of cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp of cocoa powder (may be adjusted according to hair color)

Mix and apply small amounts to your hair, particularly to your roots and bangs. Brush into your hair to fully absorb.

Salt Scrub

Sea salt exfoliates and moisturizes skin that is dry, dull, irritated or blotchy.

  • 4 tbsp of fine sea salt
  • 2-3 tbsp of olive oil

Mix together. Rub over your body while you’re in the shower, or just affected areas. It may feel oily while you’re in the shower, but when you dry off you’ll feel perfectly exfoliated.

Makeup Remover

The olive oil will break down your makeup, as well as soften your face and eyelashes.

  • Olive oil
  • Filtered water

Find a small bottle to keep the remover in. Add the water first, and then the oil so it will rest on top. The ratio for this recipe is two parts of water to one part of oil, but that can be adjusted (more oil if you wear heavier makeup). Apply using a cotton ball, and rinse face with water once the makeup has been removed.
