7 Reasons Apple Cider Vinegar Is Our Favorite Beauty Product

Oh, apple cider vinegar, what can’t you do? By now there’s a high chance you’ve heard of the virtues of apple cider vinegar, from using it as a cure for sore stomachs to getting rid of foot odor. But this wonder elixir can also be used in your beauty routine. Below are several ways to get the most out of apple cider vinegar from a beauty standpoint.

Hair Rinse

Apple cider vinegar is a popular natural rinse for hair. It helps boost shine, breaks down product buildup and can balance the pH of the scalp. It’s even used as a natural hair conditioner when people want to give up commercial conditioners. Combine one part apple cider vinegar to four parts water. Feel free to adjust the measurement depending on how dry or oily your hair is. After shampooing, pour the mixture into your hair, and let it sit for five minutes. Then rinse it out.

Toner

Apple cider vinegar is a natural astringent. It can also stimulate blood flow to the skin and reduce the size of pores. Plus, it’s a pH balancer. Simply combine equal parts apple cider vinegar and water to skin, leave on for several minutes and then rinse it off. Use once or twice per day, and make sure to shake the bottle before use.

Facials

Since apple cider vinegar is great for skin, add a couple splashes of it to your favorite natural face masks. Or combine equal parts apple cider vinegar and bentonite clay for a soothing detox.

Treat Psoriasis

Apple cider vinegar is a popular treatment for psoriasis, as it can help reduce the irritation caused by this condition. Apply the apple cider vinegar right to the troubled areas with a sponge or cotton ball. Leave on for about thirty minutes, and then rinse. You can also soak the area in a bowl, if the troubled areas are on your hands or feet. Using apple cider vinegar as a daily toner may also help prevent red spots on the face.

Lighten Age Spots

The sulfur in apple cider vinegar is reputed to lighten age spots. Dab some apple cider vinegar on the dark marks right before bed, leave on overnight and rinse off in the morning. If your skin seems sensitive to straight apple cider vinegar, dilute it with water.

Treat Sunburn

Apple cider vinegar can also help prevent sunburns from peeling. Soak a clean cloth in some apple cider vinegar and lay it on the burn for several minutes, and then rinse the area in cool water. You can also add two cups of apple cider vinegar to a lukewarm bath and soak in that. You should notice that the irritation and inflammation are reduced.

Whiten Teeth

Simply gargle with apple cider vinegar daily to help get stains off of teeth. It can also get rid of bacteria on the gums and in the mouth in general. Brush right after you gargle.
