It’s gifting season! But what do you get for the beauty addict in your life? Let’s be honest—she probably has all of her favorite makeup and likely buys the hottest products upon their release. So unless you know there is something she really wants, it’s hard to guess, and sometimes, a gift card just won’t do. We’ve got some fun, do-it-yourself options for that beauty lover who has everything.
Body Care
A body care basket is always a nice reminder to pay more attention to our skin and take time for ourselves. Items to include:
- Body Brush
- Scrub (see the DIY recipe at the end of this article)
- Wash
- Moisturizer, like this unscented one from EO. You can add a few drops of an essential oil (try sandalwood or vanilla) to personalize it.
- Candle
Nail Care
Consider giving a nail care gift, especially if you know she paints her nails. Any nail polish junkie loves receiving more nail polish. Try including:
- Hand and cuticle cream
- Cuticle Oil, or make your own using two tablespoons of almond oil, two tablespoons of vitamin oil, and one tablespoon of jojoba oil, and store in a dropper jar. You could also add a drop or two of essential oils.
- Scrub (see recipe at end of article)
- Holiday-themed nail polish, such as colors from the OPI Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Collection
Skincare
You can gift skincare, even if you don’t know her favorite brands. Sheet masks are always a good bet, or make a moisturizing mask by mixing two tablespoons of Manuka honey with a dash of cinnamon and a dash of turmeric, and the juice of ¼ lemon. Gift in a mini mason jar.
Lips
A simple combination of a lip scrub and lip balm can be perfect, as these are always needed. Try pairing the Sara Happ The Lip Scrub (we love Caramel Latte) with a lip balm from Smith’s Rosebud, or use the scrub recipe below.
Makeup
Not saying that you cannot give a beauty lover makeup, but it can be tricky. Good gifting options include highlighters, which you can never have enough of, and the same goes for eyeshadows. The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed Highlighter has a cult-like following and several options. This HUDA BEAUTY palette comes in a variety of colors, so you can choose her favorite. Not DIY, but perfect if you are dying to gift makeup.
Perfume
This perfume sampler from Sephora is perfect. It comes with 15 miniatures and the option to redeem a gift care for a full-size fragrance. Again, not really DIY, but great if you know someone who loves perfume.
Salt Scrub Recipe
This body scrub is great for hands, feet, lips—anywhere except the face! It’s easy and inexpensive to make. In addition to salt and oil, you can add herbs or a few drops of essential oils, depending on your preference (or the recipient’s). You can switch out the salt for coconut sugar if you want to make a gentler exfoliant.
1 cup kosher salt
½ cup oil (nut oils, like hazelnut or almond work well, but if olive oil is smell that is liked, that works too)
Stir together in a mixing bowl and then transfer to mason jars. This recipe makes a bit over a cup, so you may need to give gifts to a few people!
