Hazel eyes are gorgeous and many of us who do not have that color are jealous. The brown or gold with shifts to green is amazing. But what eye makeup do you wear? Do you wear something for brown eyes? Green? Something completely different? Because hazel eyes are two colors, you can actually choose which color you want to play up more, or work with whichever color is dominant. Read on to find out the best ways to enhance your hazel eye color.
Go With Green
If you are looking to play up the green in your eyes, then a brown/neutral palette is perfect for this. Try a palette like the Tarte Tartelette™ Toasted Eyeshadow Palette, which features both matte and shimmers in a variety of shades. Or check out the Violet Voss Taupe Notch Pro Eyeshadow Palette, a 20-shade collection of taupes, mauves, and browns, in both matte and shimmer finishes. Be sure to highlight the inner corner of the eye with one of the light golds.
You can always use a black liner, but consider brown, especially along lower lashes. The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil offers beautiful browns, such as Bourbon (shimmery brown), Whiskey (matte brown), or Roach (deep copper shimmer). Or branch out and line with the collection’s Goldmine, a sparkly gold liner.
Black or brown also works for mascara, but to really highlight the green in your eyes, try a gold mascara top coat, like the Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Couture Mascara.
Not So Basic Brown
To enhance the brown or gold color in your eyes, you can really with use any shade. Greens, pinks, and purples look amazing. The Urban Decay On the Run Mini Eyeshadow Palette in Bailout has a rich purple color and a pale pink, along with shimmery neutrals to balance out the colors. Or try their full size On the Run Palette, which 21 shades of green, brown, purple, and pink, in a variety of finishes. We love using a complementary color for an inner eye highlight, such as one of the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Lavender Shimmer or Strawberry Milk.
The NYX Retractable Liner in Deep Purple, Golden Olive, or Gray is perfect for lining. Instead of using black mascara, you can match it to your eyeshadow, for color amplification. Try the Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara in Green or Purple.
Other Options
You can also choose a few color enhancing shades from eyeshadow singles. MAC has a fantastic selection of colors and finishes, and you can customize your own palette with several of their eyeshadows. Many of their Extra Dimension Eyeshadow shades are great for enhancing hazel eyes. Also, be sure to prime your eyelids with your favorite eyeshadow primer before applying any makeup, for longer wear and richer color payout, and use a mascara primer, like the Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer, for fuller, longer lashes.
