Step 1: Begin with The Back of The Head

Start by untangling your hair and making sure your hair is dry. Take out your clip-in extensions and lay them flat on a clean surface. Now gently separate your hair an inch or so below your ears. Using a comb, part your hair on either side of your hairline. Pull the top layer into a ponytail or clip to avoid tangling them. If you look at your extensions, you should notice that two to three strips are longer than the rest. The longer pieces are for the back of your head.

Now, take one of the longer strips and clip it to the hair you have not tied into a ponytail. Start with the middle clip in the back of your head, making sure to get as close to the roots as possible to ensure a more natural look.

If you have fine hair and are worried that your extensions might fall out, try teasing the portions of your natural hair where the clips will be attached and spray them with hairspray for extra grip. Attach the side clips as close to your face as possible. Once the first one is secured, make sure there is no bunching along the clip-in strip.

Step 2: Mid-Hair Clipping

When you are done with the back clip-in strips, untie a half-inch of hair from the ponytail you made and make sure your hair is tangle-free. Attach the second-longest clip-in strip using the same method as you did the first.

Start with the center clip at the back of your head, then connect the remaining clips as close to your face as possible on either side of your head. Remember to tease the hair where the clips will be inserted for extra volume.

Step 3: Left and Right Clipping

In most cases, clip-in packs will include two or four stips of the same width. Now, these strips are for both sides of your head. Remove your hair from your brows down to affix these strips. Pick up one strip and work your way down both sides of your head, starting with the clips closest to your face.

Step 4: Front Clipping

For the final step, you should have two or four clip-in strips left. These are for the front of your head, and you can position and style them any way you want. These strips are filler pieces and are used to elevate your natural haircut. A great way to put them in if you are a beginner is to middle part your hair and clip them in wherever you find gaps.
