Booties for women come in various heights – ankle, calf, knee, and even thigh high. With a vast array of colors, styles, and prices, it is as though there exists an actual kingdom of booties for women these days. This fashion staple can be seen on women of all ages and walks of life. Why do boots have such great acclaim? How can you choose the right pair of boots for yourself?
There are several benefits of owning a great pair, or two, of booties. One such benefit is the obvious warmth they provide during the colder months with some being weatherproof. Boots are generally quite durable, yet some are so comfortable, you do not ever wish to take them off!
The following are some great tips on how to wear booties:
Tucked
Tucking the pants into your ankle boots can create a long, lean leg line. Most jeans are not quite fitted enough at the ankle to allow for this look to work, so a long pair of leggings would be the best bet.
Rolled Hem
Rolled or double cuffed jeans are a cute look with booties and allow for a little bit of the ankles to show through, highlighting that skinny area down there (and keeping the ankles from looking wide). This look works best with skinny jeans. Straight-legged or wider-legged jeans shorten the leg line when rolled.
Cuffed
When wearing jeans with booties, an exposed ankle is key to keeping the ankles looking as slim as possible. One of the ways to create this gap between the jeans and boots is a cuffed hem. Try this look with a longer pair of skinny jeans rather than an ankle length pair. A larger cuff (2-3 inches tall) is more flattering.
Half Cuff
One of the best looks when pairing booties with jeans is the half cuff. It is a fun look when paired with an oversized tee and sunglasses for a weekend with friends. To make this look as effortless as possible, do not make the half cuffs match. Keep them about the same height, but roll or cuff them at slightly different angles and widths to make them look effortless and a little haphazard.
How to Wear Booties with Layered Socks and Leggings
The sock trend was hard for most people to get on board with. We must admit, it is a tough one to pull off though since it adds bulk to the ankles (the exact thing we are trying to avoid). But layered over leggings makes for a cute, wintery look. Go for a neutral-colored sock to avoid drawing too much attention down there.
Monochromatic
A monochromatic look is a great way to wear those taller ankle boots. A pair of black tights and a black pencil skirt creates a sleek long black line that makes it so the height of the bootie is irrelevant. Try a fun patterned top to offset the monochromatic bottom!
Colored Tights
This look shows colorful tights. This is a great way to incorporate some color into your outfit.
With a Dress
Pairing booties with a dress is a fun and non-obvious choice. Again, keep the hem of your dress above the knee to create the longest leg line possible.
How to wear booties is just as important as the style of booties you choose. Your fashion preference reflects your sense of character and manner, the qualities you like to exude when wearing them.
