No matter what’s going on in your life, not every day is filled with productivity and a good mood. Sometimes we just feel down for no reason. And that’s okay. There’s (probably) nothing wrong with you except that life happens.
If I’m feeling stupid and sad, I usually am annoyed at myself for feeling this way. Especially if there’s not a specific reason for pitying myself. So, here are a few things I do to get myself out of this funk and get back to being the boss b*tch I usually am.
Listen to music
Music is one of the only things in this world that I could never live without. Like, ever. There is nothing better than turning on my favorite playlist and zoning out. Whether I’m driving, at home or at work, I can almost always find answers in music.
Change scenery
A friend once gave me this advice: change your scenery. When things aren’t going the way you planned or you’re just not feeling yourself, remove yourself from the situation and get away from the negative energy. This could even be as simple as taking a short walk. Not only will you get your mind off of whatever is bothering you, you will literally be distracted. Get moving.
“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together.”
Originally said by Elizabeth Taylor, this quote is my life. But I’m going to focus on the lipstick part. If I wake up not feeling too hot, or simply know it’s going to be a long day, I will spend a little extra time on my hair/makeup/beauty in the morning. Personally, if I look good, I feel good. For the most part. Wear some brighter lipstick, curl your hair, or even throw on your go-to cute outfit. There’s nothing wrong with a little pampering.
Take a bath
I will always suggest a hot bath with all the candles you own and whatever form of soak you prefer. I personally love anything lavender, so I usually gravitate towards lavender epsom salt bath soaks. However, in addition to whatever I put in the water, I always add some essential oils to boost the benefits (and the scent). Lavender essential oil from EO Products is my absolute favorite. Pour a few drops into your bath water and your skin will soak up the goodness.
Clean up my space
Nothing causes me more stress than a super disorganized room/apartment. Make sure your space is somewhat clean, and that it’s not super cluttered. This will bring down the energy of the space you’re in and only make your bad day worse.
Do you have something on your mind beauty and lifestyle related? Ask me in the comments, and I’ll have an answer for you next week in my column! Don’t be shy, I’m up for the challenge.
Xoxo –
