Life with Lauren: How I Incorporate Essential Oils into My Routine
You guys, I can’t say enough good things about essential oils. I would talk about them all day if I could. It’s becoming ~trendy~ to pick up habits like meditation and the use of essential oils, but I truly believe that these things can change your life.
What even are essential oils, though? Technically, essential oils are the liquids distilled from different parts of plants, including their seeds, bark and stems. There are so many ways to use essential oils in your daily routine, but these are just a few of my favorites.
Dropping some oils in my diffuser is my favorite way to use them. My absolute favorite oil to fill the room is lavender for relaxation, but I also love peppermint for productivity and ylang ylang simply for the smell. Nothing calms me down and makes me feel relaxed than filling my room with an essential oil, morning or night.
Apply it topically
Depending on what you’re wanting to use an oil for, applying a drop or two to your wrists or neck can help you reap the benefits even more than just smelling the oil. Whenever I have a headache, I apply some peppermint to my wrists, and when I need to chill out before bed, I do the same with lavender. The scent stays longer, and it’s just plain relaxing.
Use it in a bath
Once again, lavender oil is the center of my life. Add a few drops of it to your bath to soften your skin and ease your mind. If you have sore muscles or are feeling sick, add some eucalyptus oil. Honestly, add any oil you’re feeling at the moment and your bath will be worlds better.
Use with your skincare
Adding 1-2 drops of essential oils to your moisturizer or eye cream can add tons of benefits to your skin. Disclaimer: make sure you’re using an oil that is safe to apply topically, like doTERRA.
Add lavender to your eye cream for added anti-aging benefits.
If you have oily skin, add some orange, lemon, lime, bergamot, geranium, or cypress to regulate oil production.
Feel a pimple coming on? Dab some tea tree oil over it to help it heal.
There are endless blends to help your skincare efforts, so just try out a few different oils and see what works best for you.
