Do you hear that? It’s the sound of every girl in world letting out a collective sigh as we press the snooze button and throw the pillow over our faces for just five more minutes of sleep. As we all know, Monday mornings can be tough. Even if you happen to be one of the rare morning people roaming the earth, it can still be hard to find motivation to spend a large amount of time in front of the mirror with a mascara wand and eyeliner sharpener. On mornings like these, we encourage you to try the bare eyes and bold lips trend coveted by models and beauty gurus alike with these simple steps.
Throw your moisturizer in the refrigerator
It may sound goofy, but placing your facial moisturizer in a cold space—whether it be your fridge overnight or in your freezer for a few minutes—will wake up your skin as you lather up your face and neck. Not only will it feel refreshing, but the cold will help close pores and give your skin a naturally supple appearance.
Conceal those dark circles
This makeup look is all about drawing attention away from your eyes and toward your lips, so it’s important that your dark circles aren’t stealing the attention. All you need is a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin to brighten under the eyes. Place a couple of dots under your eye and use a soft dome brush to blend softly.
Apply a lightweight BB cream
BB Cream can be your best friend if you use it strategically. Not only does it cover blemishes and redness, but it gives your skin a dewy glow that fits perfectly with this season’s bare eyes and lip look. BB cream is known for lightening and brightening the face, which will make you look awake even without your eyeliner.
Curl those lashes
Just because this look generally calls for no mascara or eyeliner doesn’t mean you can’t cheat a little, right? Use your eyelash curler to gently make your lashes appear naturally lush and long. Remember to start at the base closest to your eyelids and gently hold your lashes in between the curler-pads, then start working your way outward to the top of your lashes. Or use this heated mini curler from Japonesque for an even quicker curl!
Bronzer
Adding bronzer to your face will give you a sun-kissed, healthy glow that will make you look ten times more awake than you feel. Apply your bronzer along the hairline/upper forehead, just below your cheek bones and below your jawline to keep your makeup looking naturally beautiful. While you’re at it, add some blush to your cheek bones to finish off the look.
Last but not least, the perfect lip color
The cool thing about the bare eyes and bold lips look is that you can switch it up with any lip color and create a whole new style. Since it’s officially pumpkin spice season now, we advise going with this season’s top lip colors, such as NAR’s Audacious Lipstick in oxford blood if you feel like going with red, or Julep’s Plush Pout Lip Crayon in magenta plum cream if you’re feeling particularly plummy.
