No matter how many minutes you think you’re sitting still, you always seem to get up, knock your finger on a corner, and there you have it—you’ve completely smudged your fresh manicure. Don’t just give up and settle for uneven polish. You can have a manicure from home look as if you just left the salon with these easy drying hacks. Speed up dry time with these nail drying hacks so you don’t have to worry about your clumsy nature.

Nail drying hacks

Ice Bath

One of our easiest nail drying hacks. Before painting your nails, fill a bowl with ice and top it with cold water. Set the bowl aside until you finish your last coat of polish. Once you’re done painting your nails, the ice bath should be melted enough to soak your fingers. Hold your fingers under the water for about a minute. The cold water solidifies the polish all the way through, so you won’t find any cracks or pores. This trick also dries your nails much faster than air-drying them.

Freezer

This trick works similarly to the ice bath because you’re exposing your nails to cold temperatures. When you’re finished with your last coat of nail polish, simply open the freezer and hold your hands inside for a minute. Remove your hands for even, dry nails.

Blow Dryer

Using a blow dryer on your nails could either be a very good, or a very bad thing, and is one of the nail drying hacks to be careful with. Applying heat to your nails will dry them out and crack the polish, meaning you would need to repaint them in a couple days. Set your blow dryer to the cool setting, and you can actually improve the look of your polish by creating an even, solidified top layer. The cold air from the blow dryer will speed up the drying process without causing damage. Make sure you set out the blow dryer before painting your nails so you don’t smudge them before they’re dry!

Cooking Spray

After painting your nails, head to the kitchen and grab a bottle of cooking spray. Hold the bottle about six inches away from your nails and completely cover them with cooking spray. Leave the oil on your nails for two minutes, then wash your hands for completely dry, smooth nails.
