Try These Natural Ways To Whiten Teeth

If there’s one way to shed off the years in appearance and add radiance, it’s making sure your teeth are bright and white. And to that end, there are tons of strips, pastes and procedures on the market to get whiter teeth. Yet if you want whiter teeth, all you really have to do is look in the bathroom cabinet or kitchen.

Coconut Oil

Natural beauty superstar coconut oil is back again. This method is actually known as “coconut oil pulling,” which just makes it sound uncomfortable and complicated. Luckily it’s not. Depending on the consistency of your oil, you can swish it around your mouth for 5-20 minutes, and then spit it out.

Other options include brushing the oil on with a toothbrush or rubbing it on with your finger. The oil will help clean and whiten teeth, and users of the oil have commented that regular use makes their teeth feel smooth and shiny.

Baking Soda And Lemon Juice

This works as an abrasive to scrub away stains. The lemon juice acts as a natural bleach. We’ve already covered how lemon juice can lighten dark marks. Simply combine the baking soda and lemon juice until it forms a paste. Apply the mixture using a toothbrush, scrub mildly for a few seconds only and leave it on for a minute. Rinse very well. Just as a fair warning, be careful to not scrub too hard or leave it on too long, or you could end up wearing away tooth enamel.

Activated Charcoal

Here’s a counterintuitive home remedy: rubbing your teeth with charcoal (so they look black and decayed?). Actually, applying activated charcoal is reputed to bind with teeth-staining tannins and lift away the stain. Just dip a wet toothbrush into some charcoal powder and scrub like you’re brushing your teeth. Leave on for a minute or so. Rinse well, then brush your teeth like normal afterwards. After time, it should lighten teeth. Make sure to use food grade/medical charcoal.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Here’s another common lightener that works on teeth, as well. Rub apple cider vinegar on your teeth with your finger, and leave it on for a minute. You’ll need to do this continually for about a month to see results. Make sure to brush well afterwards so that the acidic mixture does not sit on teeth longer than stated, or it could weaken enamel.

Turmeric

This glamorous trick will have your teeth looking stained and yellow during application, but will lead to white teeth once rinsed. Like the charcoal, dip a wet toothbrush in turmeric powder, brush your teeth with it and then leave it on for about three minutes this time. Rinse well, and then brush your teeth like normal. This method will work after repeated applications.
