It’s summer season once again, and what better way to greet the sun and warm weather than by rocking those edgy side part hairstyles? Change can be daunting indeed, but school is out, so there are less chances of encountering inquiring looks when you are out conquering the world – or at least the beach.

Edgy side part hairstyles show off your rough edges—the yang to your yin personality. You don’t have to face a major upheaval in your life such as a breakup with your boyfriend for instance, to pull off a rocker haircut.

Here are some fun ideas for an edgier look that will surely turn heads everywhere you go.

The Spike

Some women may be uncomfortable shaving a part of their heads, but if you are going to make a change, make it big! This is also very easy to maintain as you just need some mousse and you’re ready to go.

Side-Braid

Now, if you think lobbing your hair off is too much of a change, you can keep your hair and still be edgy. Introduce the side-braid hair. The beauty of this hairstyle is that it’s very easy to learn (just a few minutes on YouTube) and also easy to maintain.

The Pixie

Okay, you may think that this is very boring. But there are many ways to rock the pixie look. The one that is worn by Anne Hathaway is very elegant, but a few shocking colors or if you go platinum blonde, can really change up your look.

Asymmetrical

Typically, this type of look only shaves one part of your hair. Unlike the spiky side-part hairstyle, you still retain your bangs. It’s so easy to mess this up, especially if your stylist doesn’t know what he’s doing. On the safe side, you are better off taking a photo of the hairstyle you like to copy and show it to the hairdresser first.

The Bangs

You can shave the two sides of your hair, although you retain your bangs parted one way. It’s best if you choose the color opposite of what you are used to for added shock value.

Mohawk

This is a variation, although you can part the hair to one side. It takes a lot of mousse for that to stay up in which only a few women can pull this off (you have to ask your boss though if it’s allowed in the office). But if you have the guts, then go for it!

Undercut

You can keep your hair long but still express the rocker in you. You can opt for an undercut on one side of your hair. The beauty of this is you can easily correct your regret because the long hair can “hide” the undercut depending on how you comb it.

Those are just a few examples of edgy side part hairstyles, but we can’t possibly cover all grounds because there are just so many side-part styles to choose from. So what are you waiting for? Try out one of the above side part hairstyles or search online for what you like for your new rocker “look” and really turn heads this summer!
